All of these pages are done in my Dyan Reavely art journal( which is awesome!).
While working in my Dylusions Art Journal, I had an epiphany. At least it was for me. I mean, there’s a better than average chance that someone way better than me has already thought of this, but I was really psyched when I thought of it. So, what’ s this earth shattering idea? Embossing with a stencil! So easy. Just lay your stencil down( in this case I usedJulie Fei-Fan Balzer’s heart stencils and a broken diamond stencil). I used a Versamark pad, but you could use an embossing pen as well to color it in. I then applied white and satin pearl embossing powders and voila!
Then I decided to do a resist with the big heart ,so I applied some gelatos and gave it a wipe with a baby wipe. On the second page I tried distress inks but I didn’t care for it, so I settled on ink sprays (October Afternoon) dried it then gave it a wipe. When I was done with that, I did some close sprays to get a drip effect. I don’t know how done I am with these pages, but I really wanted to share my idea with you while it was still plainly visible on the pages.
I hope you have learned something new. Now go play with your stencils and let me know if you have some creative ways to use them!
So, even tho it’s only been a few days since I posted something, I feel like that doesn’t count since it wasn’t a “real” post, just a PSA.
I am trying to break out of a bout of the “oogies” as Kathy Bates character in Misery, describes when she just lays around the house in her bathrobe and curlers, eating – I don’t know, whatever it is she eats (small children, motor oil, ??) Everything is fine as long as you leave her alone.
Well, even tho I’m not on the verge of committing violence against anyone (probably)- just leave me alone with my motor oil! I wanted to share my last journal page with you which is in direct contradiction to my mood right now-. Now, I just want you all to know, I do not draw, as these flowers will attest-but I figured, what the heck? That’s just what those random splotches of ink needed to fill up the awkward middle parts, so that’s what happened (just let it happen).
So, blah, blah, blah, yammer, yammer, yammer-on with the show and all that!
A couple of hints: The flowers are colored with Gelatos and the doilies are gone over with Distress Inks.I also started the flowers with Dr. Martins ink in blue.
