Carved Stamps

In my WOYWW post, I mentioned some carved stamps my son made for me-and some of you were interested to get a closer look at them.

I wish I could give you a step by step tutorial, but really Julie-Fei-Fan Balzer has already done that so much better than I could, but I will put some photos of them here so you can see them up close. The train stamp is one my son made for himself (he is an avid train watcher, and to my horror, has actually jumped onto moving trains and ridden them to the next town over!) Here is a link to that blog post if you’re interested.

I told him I just wanted a couple of chevron stamps-one in positive and one in negative-here are the finished stamps.

What will I do without him when he goes back to school next week?

Stamp Carving and Train Watching

My son, who majors in art at VCU is an avid train lover and watcher. He carved this stamp from a drawing he did- I think it is so cool and he promises he will let me borrow it sometimes.

Now, I just need to get him to carve some stamps especially for me!

This is the surface of the carved stamp.
