It’s About Time

So- its been awhile since I did anything on my blog. I have been so distracted by my life that I can’t even focus on day to day things very well lately. Some really good things, and some not so good things just crushing my  mind grapes for awhile now. I am getting ready to say goodbye to my old life and start a new one- so far, it doesn’t look too bad from over here.

  1.    What I am loving lately: Supernatural– Granted, I am getting in on this waaay late in the game. I am only just catching up on old episodes and so far I’m only on Season 4, but I am loving it! It’s the right combination of scary, bloody, gorgeous and hilarious. Check my FB page to see a couple of my favorite moments so far. Especially the one where Dean has demon sickness and sees a cat!
  2. Still riding the Downton Abbey train, and now I have Tunnel Bear so I can see the new episodes before they officially come out in the US!
  3. Someone who really takes the sting out of difficulties in life just by being there and treating you like a valuable person. Who calls you a “hippie” and “crazy” and makes them both sound like good things.
  4. Reading the new Stephen King book about JFK.
  5. Dry Reisling…who knew?
  6. Downtown Charlotte- for the first time I can actually see why someone would want to live there.

Something I hate: We had to say good bye to my dog Jake after 14 years. He just couldn’t do it anymore and I wasn’t going to ask him to. My girls and I cried a lot that day-as did my son i’m sure, but from far away.

Well, onto some photos of what my art class has been up to lately. Last time they were working on altered canvases- here are their works in progress. I don’t know why, but I can only get two photos to upload into this post- whenever I add a third-one of the previous one’s gets deleted. Blargh!!!

Random Blatherings– Slow art day

No artwork to post today-just a little nonsense here and there.

Troubling observation: Some of my friends are starting to become grandparents. As much as I look forward to grandchildren, I still can’t believe I am really old enough to be a grandparent!

New favorite tv show: Downton Abbey– seriously, my daughter and I LOVE this show! We are totally invested in every character and cannot wait to see what happens next. I actually bought all of Season 2 from Amazon- BOUGHT IT! I have never bought an entire season of anything online. I would marry Mr. Bates in a hot minute and I wouldn’t mind at all if O’Brien and Thomas got a terrible lingering disease. I can’t decide if I’m rooting for Mary or Edith- just depends on the episode.  I could go on-but I highly recommend you watch this if you never have- I have to admit tho, I had a trial with the obligatory gay interlude in the first episode-but once you get past that, it’s smooth sailing!

I am about to start my next to last year of homeschooling and I am having mixed feelings about that. Happy that I’m almost done and I can move on to whatever is next for me-but really sad that it means my last child will be leaving the nest for bigger and better things. Keep your eyes on Broadway!

Seems like every place in my house has suddenly sprung a leak and damage control is all I can do until everything gets repaired. It’s time like this I really hate being a woman, because I don’t have a clue what to do when things like this happen-but at least I’m better than my almost 23 year old daughter, who left for work this morning (yeah, I’m working on ejecting her from the nest for the second time!) with water all over the kitchen floor and her bedroom ceiling coming down on her , without waking me or cleaning up the water or anything! She left me a note. Now isn’t that just so thoughtful? Thankfully, the water in the kitchen was from a malfunctioning ice maker, which I know how to fix-but seriously?

Even though most of the US is in the middle of a drought, I think it has rained in NC every day for the past month- it’s looking like the rainforest around here!

I haven’t had a haircut in probably over a year- I just never have been big on keeping my hair done because that always means I have to spend an hour fixing every day and even if I do nothing all day, I still have better things to do with my time than to mess with my hair so I can do nothing but go to Wal-Mart!

I think I am going to invent a website or start a group  for making friends (not the pornographic kind) -but just a regular make a friend type thing for people who like me and others who don’t party, or have opportunity to meet many new people. I have already met people, made friends, stopped being friends (this usually happens when you leave their church-for some reason, they just stop talking to you and also your kids)-so if this happens once or twice in the same town, you’ve pretty much made and lost all the possible friends and are down to recycling a few of the same ones until you all get tired of each other. It’s a bummer.

Pet Peeves: People who are always late (rude and disrespectful). People who can never give a straight answer to a straight question. Liars-’nuff said. People who love to believe the worst about you from anyone who will tell them-even tho they know you and have known you for years. Jealous people. Why would I want you to be jealous of me? That means you will never be a real friend to me.

Well, I guess I have rambled enough for one day-  see you next time!
